BLIA Sydney takes part in Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia is held on the first weekend of March, with more than one million people participating each year. From March 2 to 3, BLIA Sydney mobilised 130 BLIA members and BLIA Scouts to engage in community environmental cleaning work, demonstrating BLIA’s positive attitude in community engagement and environmental protection.

BLIA East 1, West 1 and West 2 Subchapters cleaned out areas around Parramatta Stadium and Parramatta River. The Wollongong subchapter worked together with local residents to clean the streets around Nan Tien Temple. In South Sydney, South 1, Aloka and Mudita Subchapters went to Carls Park to carry out cleaning activities along with BLIA Scouts and their families. North 1 Subchapter conducted cleaning at the Chatswood Memorial Garden near the train station.

Venerable Chueh Shan, Guiding Venerable of BLIA Sydney said that by cleaning up the external environment, we are also purifying our own minds from the outside in. President Daniel Wu of BLIA Sydney encouraged everyone to take part in the opportunities of Clean Up Australia Day to practise the Three Acts of Goodness, to care for the community and to put environmental conservation into action.

每年三月的第一個週末是澳洲的全國清潔日活動,都有超過一百萬人參與。國際佛光會雪梨協會響應澳洲清潔日,協會長胡命安在3月2至3日帶領130位佛光人及佛光童軍投入社區環境清潔工作,展現佛光人融入社區共生共榮的積極態度。

東一、西一、西二分會以Parramatta體育場公園和Parramatta河畔為清潔區域,積極展開清潔工作;臥龍崗分會與當地居民合作,以佛光山南天寺周圍的街道為清潔據點;南一、光明、喜捨分會與雪梨南區佛光童軍前往卡爾斯公園進行清潔活動,童軍們的父母也一起參與;北一分會在北雪梨佛光緣監寺覺觀法師帶領下道Chatswood紀念花園進行清潔打掃。

雪梨協會輔導法師覺善法師開示,透過清潔外在環境的垃圾,也在清掃自心內在的垃圾,由外而內地淨化本心。胡命安勉勵大家,參與澳洲清潔日行三好的好機會,以實際行動關懷社區,維護自然環境。
